WHAT IS SIN? GOD’S LAW OR SOCIETY JUDGEMENT?
WHAT IS SIN? GOD’S LAW OR SOCIETY JUDGEMENT?
An act that’s against divine or moral laws defined by religion.
However in real life sin is mixed with our cultural norms.
And the problem rises when they blend together without understanding which results in confusion.
Many things are labeled as sinful not because God forbade them, but the society found them inconvenient.
You might have heard a saying:
“A society of sinners, judging sinners for sinning differently.”
As human beings,we all sin but our judgement towards sin depend on our upbringing, our fears, our personal experiences, our thoughts and especially our culture.
For example, in today societies, a woman’s clothing is immediately judged as sinful, forgetting religion teaches modesty not public humiliation.
Culture often adds extra rules and then presents it as religion.
Is it truly a sin? Or is it what will people say?
RELIGION OR CULTURE:
Religion gives us laws and principle where as Culture is totally based on our judgments thoughts and opinions. But now a days cultural norms are treated as divine laws.
Moreover sin should be identified through authentic religious teachings, not through personal thoughts, fear, society pressure.
So before judging someone question yourself:
Is it truly a sin? or is it just unfamiliar to me?
Am I following the path or the people?
Because sometimes what you call sin might actually be a misunderstanding.
We need to work on ourselves.
To unlearn what culture taught us wrongly and to relearn what religion actually says.
